How Getting Organized will Save You Money
Did you know getting organized will help you save money? Forget the time you will lose searching for anything, being disorganized can cost you more than you realize.
So real life story: A few months ago a friend of mine was cleaning out her garage and found 2 boxes of diapers her daughter had since out grew, and 2 boxes of diapers in the size she was currently in and a box of wipes. The diapers she out grew were worth about $60 and she was only able to resell them for $30 she lost $30 just from be disorganized.
If you were to lose $30 a month, that’s $360 just down the drain every year. Now let’s take that a step further.
Think about how often you can’t find small things like a pen and paper. What do you do? Many people after 10 minutes of hunting will go out and buy new items because they are only $1 or $2. Dropping $5 a week is costing you $269 a year.
So far we are at $629 a year that is just being tossed down the drain because you aren’t organized.
Now, think of all the stuff you don’t use packed in closets, in boxes that you can’t remember the last time they were opened, in attics or basements. If you haven’t used it in a year when, is the next time you likely will? The only exception to this is holiday décor that is actually only used once a year. All that clutter is taking up space and you can sell it and put some money into savings, use it for your next vacation or anything you have been working toward.
Take a look at your closets. How many times do you buy a pair of jeans to later find out you had one similar, because it’s so cluttered and you don’t really know what you have? I have done that with my clothes, I had 2 of the same shirt!! One with tags on it! Have you bought shirts or shoes because you didn’t have what you needed for an outfit only to find later you DID have what you needed you just couldn’t find it? Have you planned an outfit only to put it on that day and realize it didn’t fit because you have kept clothes you plan to wear once you lose weight? Then being cluttered is costing you money.
To solve this problem you need to take a day get with the family and get organized. Put everything away, get rid of clutter, clothes that don’t fit and items you haven’t used in over a year, get rid of. This will get you well on your way to saving close to $1,000 a year!
